Kathryn Louise Miller died at the Chevy Chase House in Washington, D.C., on September 27th, 2012 after a short illness. She was born Kathryn Louise Smith on July 28, 1918 in New York, New York. She attended the Emma Willard School in Troy, N.Y., and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education at New York City Teacher’s College.
Kathryn taught briefly in Brooklyn, N.Y. and operated a pre-school in her home in Claverack, N.Y. She was a homemaker, mother to three children and additionally volunteered her time to the Claverack School Board, the American Cancer Society, the Columbia Memorial Hospital auxiliary and numerous other civic organizations. Kathryn adored the game of golf and was a life time member of the Columbia Golf and Country Club along with her husband David. Kathryn and David later moved to The Villages in Lady Lake Florida where Kathryn continued her volunteer efforts with the Village’s food bank.
