Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Pat Grattan, R-Kinderhook, cast the deciding vote during Thursday’s combined Pine Haven Subcommittee and Health and Medical Services Committee meetings to solicit potential buyers for the county’s nursing home.

Supervisors Sarah Sterling, D-Hudson1; Jesse DeGroodt, NOP-Chatham; and John Porreca, R-Greenport, chair of the board’s Health and Medical Services Committee, voted with Grattan to authorize the request for proposal to possibly sell off Pine Haven Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Philmont. Supervisors Clifford “Kippy” Weigelt, R-Claverack; Ed Cross, D-Hudson2; and Ray Staats, D-Clermont, objected to the resolution. Grattan said Thursday that he is an “ad hoc member” of every committee as chairman of the board.
