WEST GHENT — The Aug. 1 fire at TCI of New York broke out in the area of the building occupied by PSS, a company leasing space from TCI, and may have been caused by a new sodium heater left on by PSS employees. These are among the revelations in the fire investigation report released Jan. 2 by the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control.

The report, which took five months to complete, was put together by Randi Shadic, deputy chief of the Inspections and Investigations Branch of the OFPC. It classifies the cause of the fire as accidental.
