Holcim loses bid to slash assessment

GREENPORT - Holcim U.S., which is just coming to a settlement with the city of Hudson regarding taxes it grieved going back to 2010, also grieved its taxes in Greenport. However, in Greenport, the cement company withdrew its grievance for 2012 and was dismissed in court on its 2013 grievance.

Holcim, a subsidiary of a Swiss cement company, one of the world’s largest, owns about 1,600 acres in Greenport, which the town assessed at a total of $6,553,600 in both 2012 and 2013.
