ALBANY — Paying a nickel deposit for a sports drink or a bottled iced tea may seem like petty cash, but it adds up, and could mean $14 million in additional annual revenue for the state, according to a coalition of environmental and community groups.

Included in the New York State Assembly budget resolution passed Monday is a proposal to expand the types of bottles eligible for recycling under the state’s Bottle Bill. The bill would also increase funding for the state’s Environmental Protection Fund.
