COLUMBIA COUNTY — The $629,000 offer approved by the Columbia County Board of Supervisors last week to purchase 15 acres of the Meadowgreens Golf Course in Ghent to expand the Columbia County Airport’s runway protection zone, is approximately $65,000 more than the assessed value of the entire 96 acre golf course and more than $100,000 above the market value of the golf course, according to county records.

The entire golf course is assessed at $564,100. The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved making the offer of $629,000 to CN Production Management Enterprises LLC, whose ownership group is headed by Carmen Nero, and includes Board of Supervisors Majority Leader Matt Murell. Murell, a supervisor from Stockport, abstained from the vote.
