Hudson is applying for a $600,000 state Community Development Block Grant to create separate stormwater and sanitary waste lines in the area of Front Street between Columbia and State streets. This is part of the city’s ongoing response to a mandate from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to have separate stormwater and sewer lines throughout the city, in order to prevent contamination of the Hudson River.

The application, which would be made to the New York State Office of Community Renewal, was authorized by the Common Council at a special meeting Monday. All six members present voted for it. The meeting was conducted in order that this application and another one, for Seventh Street Park refurbishment, could meet the June 15 deadline.
