ALBANY — In another Albany late-night session, state legislators pushed the clock to 2 a.m., passing their previous late night mark on gun control legislation, by passing an amendment to the NY SAFE Act which would exempt retired police officers from the new requirement over high capacity guns.

The amendment would allow retired law enforcement to carry guns with high ammunition clips, rather than the restrictions placed in the NY SAFE Act which limits handguns to seven bullets.

This is the third change to a law rushed thru the legislative process in six months. We need to repeal this law and replace the govener that rushed it thru. A constitutional convention can change the way the process works, so the emergancy powers are restricted to emergancies not political agendas.

@Pete Lopez, what a load of twaddle. We already have dozens of laws on the books back beyond the Sullivan Act that distinguish between LEOs and regular citizens when it comes to weapons and ammunition they are allowed to own. So your statement and concerns are simply false and inflammatory.

We now have three classes of citizens in this State: (i) Ruling Class; (ii) Favored Subjects; and (iii) Unfavored Subjects.

Thank you Peter Lopez and Kathleen Marchione, too bad our governor won't do what the people want. People please write your representatives and tell them you don't want anymore gun control. If you don't you will lose it. What is next...
