Cheryl Roberts casts her ballot
Cheryl Roberts votes Tuesday at her polling place, the Spencertown Firehouse on state Route 203. Roberts said Wednesday she’d like to get a full count of absentee ballots before conceding the race for the 107th Assembly District; she would need 80.5 percent of those ballots to win.

Incumbent Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin, who is running to represent the 107th District, took the lead Tuesday against Democratic challenger Cheryl Roberts, and has declared victory. The Roberts campaign is not conceding defeat, however, saying there are too many absentee ballots yet to be counted.
In total, with 111 of 111 districts in, McLaughlin held a 2,272 vote lead — out of 54,242 votes cast between himself and Roberts. It was unclear how many absentee ballots had yet to be counted.
