Mountain View Masonry and Landscape of Ghent has been contracted to take down the Old Brick Tavern at the intersection of routes 9H and 66. At right, sitting in the excavator is one of the owners of the business, Robert Charron. They will spend at least a week and carefully, brick by brick he says, salvage everything.

Since the demolition began earlier this week,  Charron says that guardians of other historic buildings in the county have been contacting them to see if they can get such things as stones, bricks, lintels, floorboards, etc. for their houses. A truckload of bricks has already been spoken for by the General Worth house in Hudson.
