It seemed as if Hudson had a newly-amended mass gathering permit law when the Common Council unanimously passed it June 17. However, no law takes effect until it undergoes a public hearing and the mayor signs it, and Mayor William H. Hallenbeck Jr. is making his reservations about this law known, prior to Tuesday’s 3:30 p.m. public hearing.

After the public hearing, the mayor will decide whether to sign the bill. If he vetoes it, it goes back to the council, where a two-thirds majority would be required to override the veto.
