Practice for the One Billion Rising interactive community dance mob was conducted by Operation Unite Executive Director Elena Mosley (third from right) at the Hudson Opera House Tuesday evening. Participants watched a projected video that outlined the various steps of the dance, in preparation for the Thursday event. It will be held at the Hudson Opera House from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Columbia Greene Community College from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and at the studio of Petite Productions of Catskill from noon to 2 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The global event is sponsored locally by the REACH Center, a program of the Mental Health Association of Columbia Greene Counties. It encourages everyone to rise up and demand an end to violence against women. Also as part of the One Billion Rising event, a rendition of the Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler will be presented Friday night at Stageworks Hudson. While this show is not recommended for children, the Thursday dance mob definitely is. For information in Columbia County call 518-828-4619, ext. 205, for Greene County, 518-943-4482, or online at www.mhacg.org or onebillionrising.org.
