HUDSON — The Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA recently benefited from a tip they received at a social function last summer qualifying them for a $20,000 award to build a state-of-the-art animal shelter with.

President Ron Perez mentioned that an attendee at the organization’s annual Summer Paw Picnic had informed Charlene Marchand, a member of the CGHS/SPCA’s Board of Directors, of the Bruce G. Geary Foundation’s grant program, and encouraged them to apply last September. Several months later, they received the $20,000 from the non-profit to construct a brand-new pet boarding wing and a low-cost veterinary clinic.
