A Columbia County sheriff’s deputy was rushed to the hospital this morning after a two-car accident in Claverack.

The accident occurred on Route 23 just east of county Route 11 at 7:55 a.m. According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Joseph Bruno was slowing down, activating his emergency lights and turning to initiate a traffic stop on an eastbound vehicle when a 17-year-old Taconic Hills High School senior from Philmont, driving eastbound, collided with the sheriff’s cruiser.
