HUDSON — Although you may not see them from the street, solar panels are springing up around the region and many of the largest have been installed by Monolith Solar Associates of Rensselaer. Over the past couple of weeks the Monolith Energy Company of Rensselaer has been installing solar panels on the roof of Van Kleeck Tire at 725 State St. in Hudson.

According to Monolith Energy foreman William VanNatten, there are 180 panels on the roof of the business. They began the project on March 15, and will be back on Tuesday to finish the hook-up. The company has been assembling many solar arrays around the Capital District. Monolith Solar currently has a staff of 11 installers which comprises about two crews and this spring the company plans to hire 12 more installers for a total of 4 crews.
