There was no room to sit anywhere in the stands, and little room to stand, for the Monster Tractor Pull Saturday afternoon at the Main Stage of the Columbia County Fair. All heads were turned to the right, as a souped-up tractor or truck entered from the pit and pulled forward to position itself to back up to the hydraulic sled. Many people wore earplugs, or had their fingers in their ears.
Richard Alford, member of the fair’s Board of Directors, said this is the fair’s most popular event, because Columbia County is a farm county, and motor sports are popular here as well.
