COLUMBIA COUNTY — The parcel next to the Department of Social Services building at 25 Railroad Ave. in Hudson that was offered to the county as a throw-in as part of its $1.288 million purchase is a freshwater emergent designated wetland.

According to a county-commissioned report by Morris Associates, the 2.6-acre wooded property, as well as the greater surrounding area, is considered a wetland by the U.S. Dept. of the Interior National Wetlands Inventory.  The site is located on a hilly area heading toward Oakdale Lake with extensive wetlands and two ponds.
