I wasn’t surprised when Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his comprehensive initiative to reduce gun violence; after all, you can’t pick up a newspaper or turn on the TV without reading or hearing about another gang-related shooting. And, if you were to ask the million or so legitimate New York gun owners how they felt about the initiative, it’s a pretty good bet that most would say they support it — provided, of course, it’s not just a ruse aimed at infringing on their Second Amendment rights.
That’s how New York State Rifle and Pistol Association president Tom King feels about the initiative. “We’re (NYSRP) for anything that curbs gun violence in our cities, as long as it doesn’t distract from its original focus or starts leaning towards depriving law-abiding citizens from the Constitutional right to keep and bear arms,” King said.
