Grant appreciation
Jane Peck, president
Friends of Taconic State Park
Friends of Taconic State Park would like to extend its deepest appreciation to Parks & Trails New York which has awarded us a $1,425 capacity building grant. This grant will help us launch a membership campaign through which we hope to add 100 new member households to Friends of Taconic State Park.
Friends of Taconic State Park was one of nine organizations awarded funding from Parks & Trails New York (PTNY) this year. PTNY makes capacity building grants to not-for-profit park and trail organizations to aid them in their efforts to increase organizational visibility, generate community support, grow membership, and attract additional volunteers. We could not be more honored by or grateful for this award and with the validation of our efforts that it implies.
We would also like to thank the many people in our community who have supported “Friends of Taconic State Park” since its inception just this past August. This early support has been invaluable as we pursue our goal of furthering the activities of the park.
We also take this opportunity to invite park friends — old and new — on a snowshoeing tour of the Copake Iron Works Historic District on Saturday, February 13th at 1 p.m. Snow shoes will be available for adults and children with hot chocolate waiting for us at the end of our tour.
