Thirty-seven volunteers from Columbia County and beyond packed more than 325 boxes of Thanksgiving food at the Trinity Methodist Church on Joslen Boulevard on Saturday in anticipation of the Salvation Army’s annual giveaway of holiday meals to families in the Hudson area.

Groups of volunteers included members of the Altamont House from Father Young’s Program in Albany, 10th and 11th-graders from Catskill High School, Girl Scout Troop 1192 from Valatie, Country Kids 4H Club, and some members of the 6th grade class at the Hudson Intermediate School as well as various individual families with children as young as 8-years-old!

Each box contained more than 25 items intended for Thanksgiving Day and the weekend to follow.  Turkeys, eggs and bread will be added on Monday during the distribution. The Trinity Methodist church donated space to store food for the past several weeks and to pack the boxes for delivery to the Corps at 40 South Third in Hudson. Local businesses provided turkeys, the Regional Food Bank donated canned goods, and various local food drives including Cranksgiving (see story), Stuff the Bus and Operation Rescue (sponsored by Subway and ST Hudson Plumbing) helped to ensure that local families who are struggling will enjoy a complete sit down Thanksgiving meal.

Volunteers included:  Joseph & Linda Kilcer, Lou Leno, Charles Proper, Al Cook, Olivia Shader, Jenna Gregory, Brittney Wilson, Rebecca Allen, Lynn Clark, Kathy and Sierra Wase, John Debrouch, Bert Eigenbrodt, Katie Krizar, Kristin Scherlel, Julia Puiatti, Anna Allen, Holly Doty, Briann Doty, Nicole Hallenback, Brittany Kreig, David Marzahl, Joe Wilhelm, Lori Herzing, Nadine Kimbrough, Marie Cammarata, Desiree Goodwin, Kristin Tracy, Natalie Cammarata, Eben LaMarche, Renee Coons, Adele Ludemann, Cassandra Anderson, Maria R. Miller, Robin Strobeck, Adam White and Brian Lombardo.
