Letter — Ghent Food Pantry seeking Thanksgiving donations
At this time of year we give thanks for the wonderful community we live in. It is through the kindness of so many that we are able to lend a helping hand to those in need. It is for this reason we are reaching out to the community to ask for support as we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday.
More than 60 families are relying on the Ghent Food Pantry to provide a turkey and all the trimmings for their meal. In the past we have been grateful that so many generous folks have donated turkeys to us. We are asking for your help once again. We recognize that the local supermarket will not be running the usual promotion of free turkeys when a certain amount of money has been spent. We also realize that many folks who have donated in the past may not be in a position to help us this year. Therefore, we are reaching out to the larger community to ask for your support. If it is at all possible for you to donate a turkey we would be thrilled to receive it.
Any and all donations may be dropped off at the Ghent Town Hall, Route 66 in the village of Ghent, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. To make arrangements to have a donation picked up, please call 392-4828.
On behalf of the Ghent Food Pantry, we would like to wish everyone a joyous Thanksgiving and thank you again for always being there when we need you.
