A Millerton man was medevaced to an area hospital Wednesday after driving into the back of a large propane truck parked on the side of the road.
Around 1 p.m. Dave Herring, 57, was driving his Saturn south on Route 82 in Ancram, between Poole’s Hill Road and Wiltsie Bridge Road, when — for an unknown reason — he plowed into the back of a Paraco propane truck parked on the side of the road, partially in the southbound lane with its flashers on, while the driver delivered propane.
Herring was briefly unconscious, but recovered and was transported by the Community Rescue Squad to the Ancram Town Hall where he was medevaced to Albany Medical Center.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. The Ancram Fire Department also responded to the scene.
