Education expert to address task force
Dr. Patricia Price, chair of the Education Department at the College of St. Rose, will address members of the Hudson City School District Task Force on Student Academic Performance on at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Hudson High School library. Members of the public are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Price, who has a PhD in science education, has been a school principal, an elementary science teacher, and a kindergarten through 12th grade science director. She has worked with the New York state Education Department and has extensive experience using a hands-on approach to teaching. She will discuss that teaching methodology, as well as teacher training and support on Wednesday evening.
The Task Force on Student Academic Performance was established by the Board of Education in June of 2009 to find ways to advance student academic achievement in the Hudson City School District. The task force is comprised of school staff, parents and community stakeholders. The Board of Education appointed board member Peter Meyer as leader, and he has charged the task force with producing a report to the full BOE by January 2010.
