YOUTH SPORTS
HUDSON — Hudson Elks Lodge No. 787 held its annual Hoop Shoot on Saturday, according to a release from the lodge.
In the 8-9-year-old boys division, Stephen Bowes placed first and Jarid Neal took second. In the boys 10-11-year-old division, Mike Alert placed first, Jonathan Wynn took second and Derek Delamater came in third. In the boys 12-13-year-old division, T.J Gardner took first place, Mike Bowes came in second and Zack Hedgepeth placed third. In the girls 12-13-year-old division, Ali Bartolotta placed first and Shannon LaChance placed second. The first-place winners advance to the regional competition in East Greenbush in January.

NORTON, Mass. — Kinderhook native and Ichabod Crane graduate Taylor Willis was among 11 Wheaton College student-athletes named to the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference team for the fall of 2009, according to a release from the school.
Student-athletes receiving the award must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better upon completion of the 2009 spring semester, attain at least a sophomore year standing and be a competing member of a varsity team for the entire season. Women’s cross country led the way with four honorees, while two programs added two apiece.
Willis was among the four sophomores to receive accolades from women’s cross country, as the squad set a program record for academic all-league nods. All four were first-time award winners.
