Hudson Dept. of Youth Basketball Program
The Hudson Department of Youth is sponsoring a basketball program for boys and girls in grades 3-8. Registration has already started at the Hudson Department of Youth Office and will continue Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For residents of Hudson the cost is $10 and $15 for non-residents. If any parents are interested in coaching a basketball team, they should contact the Dept. of Youth Office at 828-0017. Deadline for registration is Friday.
Children will practice once a week at either John L. Edwards Elementary School or Hudson Middle School during the months of December, January and February. Basketball games will be played on Saturdays at the Hudson Middle School gym starting in January.
Ichabod Crane Midnight Madness Basketball
Ichabod Crane will hold its second annual basketball midnight madness on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the high school. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The Riders are inviting all fans to the Pep Rally which will be held in the gymnasium. The night will be filled with prizes, contests, music, food and basketball. Admission is one nonperishable food item that will be donated to the Valatie food pantry.
There will also be tickets available to purchase for a Nov. 14 chicken dinner by OK Kenny’s Barbecue from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a hypnotist show starting at 7 p.m. to support the boys varsity basketball team’s trip to Disney World. The Ichabod Crane School Board has granted permission to the Riders to attend the KSA Basketball Tournament at Disney in Orlando, Fla. in late December.
The team is also accepting donations and sponsors for the trip. Tickets for the events can be purchased and sponsorship information can be picked up at the Midnight Madness event, from varsity boys basketball players and the ICC high school foyer by calling 518-542-8907.
The ICC boys will make the trip to Disney World on Dec. 27, and are currently scheduled in the “Blue” Bracket with teams from Florida, Alabama, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and Virginia. Ichabod Crane will be the smallest school in the bracket with the other schools sized 2A and up.
Turkey Shoot
The Polish Sportsmen’s Club will host a turkey shoot on Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. For more information call 828-0375.
Coxsackie Handgun Safety Course
There will be a handgun safety course at the Coxsackie Sportsmen’s Club on Reservoir Road in West Coxsackie on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
This course is required to apply for a pistol license in Greene County. It is suggested that students contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to obtain an application package prior to attending.

Morris Memorial Youth Basketball
The Morris Memorial Youth Basketball program is currently conducting registration for the 2009-10 season. The program is open to all youth in grades 1-8 that reside in the Chatham Central School district and surrounding townships. Volunteer coaches will lead skill-building drills and games. Scores will not be kept and all players will have equal playing time, regardless of skill. Games will be played on Saturdays (Divisions 2-4) and Sundays (Division 2) beginning Dec. 12. A players and coaches clinic will be held that day for Divisions 2-4. The basketball program ends Feb. 13 and 14.
The registration fee is $45 for the first player from each family and $30 for each additional player. Placement on a team will only be guaranteed to those youth who register online by Nov. 23. A $15 late fee will be added to registrations received after the Nov. 23 deadline. Scholarships are available by calling the Morris Memorial office at 392-4622.
