CLERMONT — Incumbent Supervisor Raymond Staats won again over Republican supervisor candidate Carol Lent.
Staats won by a considerable tally, earning 380 votes to Lent’s 224.
“I’m obviously happy with the results,” Staats said. “We did lose one of the board members, which was unfortunate, but other than that, I was pleased.”
Staats was referencing incumbent board member Democrat Chris Nolan’s loss to Republican Robert Desmond, who earned 331 votes, while Nolan got 230.
Democrat Nancy Moore won the other Town Board seat, with 293 votes. Her opponent, Republican Judith Neary, got 234 votes.
Staats said he wasn’t particularly surprised by the results of the election.
“I thought it was going to be similar to what it turned out to be,” he said.
Town Clerk Mary Helen Shannon, Highway Superintendent James C. Potts, and Tax Collector Joan Buser all ran unopposed. Shannon got 358 votes, Potts got 535, and Buser got 297 votes.
Phone calls to Carol Lent were not returned before press time.
All election results are unofficial, pending routine recanvassing and the counting of absentee ballots.
