Grattan is needed

Gary Strevell
Mayor
Valatie

While I am sure everyone would guess correctly who I support for the next Town of Kinderhook supervisor. I doubt they realize some of the reasons why.

First, the current supervisor had the opportunity to retain 38 jobs in the town by working with Kinderhook Toyota. He did not. He jumped at the chance to arrange a meeting of the town board, planning board, and ZBA to see what laws needed to be changed for the DeVito Nursing Home project, but his attitude to Kinderhook Toyota resulted in the loss of the 38 jobs in the town.

Second, he had the opportunity to support the grant to add 20+ jobs to the town at Energy Onix.  He did not. Instead, he called the state and demanded the grant be revoked.

Third, he had the opportunity to support the Valatie Senior Center. He did not. He used his position as State Democratic Committeeman and Kinderhook Town Supervisor to push political appointees in the state to revoke the grant, in an attempt to deny our senior citizens an accessible location.

Fourth, he continues to support the closing of Pine Haven and the relocation to Valatie, ignoring the multitudes of people and other supervisors who have rejected it.

While constantly berating the Village of Valatie during his campaign using his famous and meaningless tax rate numbers, he has had nothing positive to show for his last term as supervisor. Many of the positives he claims actually belong to others. The sidewalks to the school were started by Jason Nastke. The sidewalk between Valatie and the Village of Kinderhook are being funded by the villages, not the town. He didn't get the State Farm Road buildings for free. He signed a contract to maintain the water system for NYS for 30 years at an unknown cost to the taxpayers.

Clearly we need a supervisor who knows how to manage a budget in bad times, as well as good. We need a supervisor who thinks before he acts, and is willing to listen to the people when he acts. We need a supervisor that works with all elected officials, not just those of his choosing. We need Pat Grattan for supervisor.

" I had no idea that Supervisor McGivney was so omnipotent. He's apparently single-handedly responsible for quashing the grant to Energy Onix and has also apparently used his Machiavellian connections with unnamed State "appointees" to meddle in the Valatie Senior Center affair. I'm not sure why we're even having an election, since it sounds like Supervisor McGivney has the power and influence to orchestrate a result in his favor.

Mayor Strevell, your paranoia is showing... "

" Kinderhook toyota moved to a much bigger site. The jobs are just a few miles down the road. What a phony issue.

Why not publish some information on where that 520,000 was spent. I bet some local companies that support republicans got big checks. "

" The latest Board of Elections filings are out and it turns out that Energy Onix is among the other corporate interests that have contributed to the Kinderhook Republicans. I'm sure that has little to do with Mayor Strevell championing their cause here... "

" Interesting that there were no signs of hiring at Energy-Onix following the grant announcement, and there was a puzzling lack of response to inquiries. "
