Wallace, Beulah E. (Tanner)
HUDSON — Beulah E. (Tanner ) Wallace, 89, of Philmont, NY passed away quietly in her sleep at Columbia Memorial Hospital following a brief illness on Thursday evening, October 15th.
Mrs. Wallace, an eighty plus year resident of the village of Philmont, and almost as long member of the Philmont United Methodist Church, was the wife of the late George. E. Wallace, Jr. They were married July 26th, 1942 and shared 57 years of marriage, until his passing in 1999.
During her working years, Beulah was an office worker at Harder’s Express Co., and worked as a detail seamstress for Rolin Sportswear and other shirt and dress factories in town over the years, where her specialty was making the sample shirts and dresses shown to buyers. She was a charter member of the Philmont Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and was awarded a life membership after 50 years of service to the group. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church as well, where she had sung in the choir for many years, and was a Sunday school teacher as well.
She was born to the late Roy and Mae (Rockefeller) Tanner, the youngest of three sisters.
She is survived by her sons, George E. (Carol) Wallace of Clifton Park, NY and Gary R. (Mary) Wallace of Hudson. She and George had three grandchildren, Ryan of New York City, Adam of Clifton Park and Ashley and her fiance, Kevin Jones, of Salem, MA. In addition, her sisters Dorothy Hoose of Philmont and Eleanor Card of Ghent will mourn her passing. Her younger brother Roy, Jr. was deceased as a young child. Beulah is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A special friend and buddy was Roberta (Bobbie) Erlichman, a neighbor, who gave her much loving care and friendship over the last couple of years.
Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 18th from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. at Valenti and Richards Funeral Home 700 Town Hall Drive Hudson. Funeral services will begin on Monday, October 19, at 9:30 a.m at the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m at the Philmont United Methodist Church, 27 Church Street, Philmont. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.
Memorial contributions are requested to the Philmont Rescue Squad or the Philmont United Methodist Church.
