According to the Hudson Police department, the 8-year-old girl struck by a car on Columbia Street in Hudson Saturday is in stable condition.
On Oct. 10, shortly after 10 a.m., the girl was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on the 300 block of Columbia Street.
The girl, said police, was riding a bicycle and came from between two buildings, lost control and drove out into the path of the oncoming vehicle.
“People need to be very cautious, especially in this city, with the number of alleys...we have,” said HPD Lt. Richard Paolino.
He said that there have been a number of similar accidents in the past involving cars versus bikes and cars versus pedestrians.
According to Lieutenant Lynn Finn of the HPD, there are no charges pending against the operator of the vehicle, but the matter will continue to be investigated.
Jack Howe, the superintendent for the Hudson city School District, said that they were ready with counselors to speak with any of the girl’s school friends that might have been emotionally affected by the accident.
The girl remains at Albany Medical Center, where she had been transported by the Greenport Rescue Squad and then by med-flight.
