Residents will be able to find out if they are owed some of New York’s $9.9 billion in unclaimed funds at events across the state this month, including two events in the twin counties.

“New York has $9.9 billion in unclaimed fund accounts,” said state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli. “We want to return this money to its rightful owners. The money belongs to New Yorkers. We want to give it back.”

Representatives from the state Comptroller’s office will be on site to help residents find out if they are owed money at the following events:

n Columbia Golden Gathering, 9:30 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 17 Columbia-Greene Community College, 4400 Route 23, Hudson

n Coxsackie Correctional Facility Employee Health Fair, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21, Coxsackie Correctional Facility, Route 9W, Coxsackie

New Yorkers can also check for unclaimed funds at www.osc.state.ny.us or by calling toll free 1-800-221-9311.
