C-GCC holds Criminal Justice and Career Fair

Columbia-Greene Community College will host the Criminal Justice College and Career Fair from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday.

The free event will feature colleges that offer criminal justice programs as well as employers. The fair, which is open to the public, will be held in the Professional Academic Center at the Greenport campus.

"Whether you are in high school or college, if you have any interest in a career or education in criminal justice, this is an event for you to attend," said C-GCC Assistant Professor William DeLuca. "Representatives from both colleges and police agencies will be here ready to talk and answer your questions."

Colleges with criminal justice programs will be represented. They include, C-GCC, the University at Albany, Marist and Russell Sage.


Employers include the following New York State law enforcement agencies: State Police; Department of Environmental Conservation, including Forest Rangers; Parks; and University.  Also, the sheriff's offices of both Columbia and Greene counties, among others.

C-GCC offers a long-standing program in criminal justice as well as a cutting-edge program in computer security and forensics which will also be featured. The latter is a high- growth field that has attracted much attention as it plays out on the most popular television dramas.

C-GCC faculty will be on hand to discuss details of its programs with visitors, including transfer and career opportunities. The fair will also feature colleges that offer bachelor's degree programs in criminal justice.
