Letter — Town’s 225th celebration a success thanks to many
The members of the Stephentown Historical Society would like to thank everyone who made the town’s 225th celebration and chicken barbecue at the Firemen’s Muster a big success. The event would not have been possible without the generous help of the Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department. Kinderhook Creek Farm donated the corn that the Stephentown veterans cooked and served, the Stephentown seniors and historical society made desserts and the Stephentown Memorial Library provided lemonade, rounding out the delicious meal that Giffy’s Barbeque prepared.
With everyone’s help it was a wonderful day, especially due to the overwhelming support of the community. All dinners were sold.
A special thanks to the Brokalis-White family for the use of their barn and help in decorating the float and to Everett Madden for driving. Children of last year’s second and third grades again portrayed Stephen Van Rensselaer, Governor Clinton and Pierre Van Cortlandt, along with Stephentown residents, as they did in the March 29 Charter Day celebration. A fun time was had by all.
