Clothes dryer causes fire on Fairview Ave.

HUDSON — City of Hudson firefighters responded to a working structure fire that originated in the basement of a residence on Fairview Avenue at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, Columbia County 911 reported Sunday morning.
Greenport Rescue Squad was on the scene and the Greenport Fire Department was on standby. Catskill Fire was relocated to Tower 315 and engine 321 to Hudson’s Central Station.
National Grid and the Columbia County Cause and Origin Team also responded. The cause of the fire was reported by County 911 as a fire in a clothing dryer.
The residence’s two occupants had already vacated the building by the time first arriving units arrived on scene. The fire was officially declared out by 5 a.m. and all units were back in service at 7:46 a.m. Sunday.
