HUDSON — Two days after an Old Chatham woman walked out of Columbia Memorial Hospital, authorities continue to search the area she was last seen.
The Hudson Police Department is the lead agency in the search for 52-year-old Shelley T. Campbell, which continues to expand in manpower and agencies.
According to HPD Lt. Lynn Finn, as of Wednesday afternoon half of HPD’s force were involved in the search, along with the State Police, Columbia Count Sheriff’s Office, Greenport Rescue Squad and Department of Environmental Conservation forest rangers.
The search party is likely to get larger if the hunt for Campbell needs to be continued.
“The next two days will be a full-court press,” said HPD Chief Ellis Richardson.
He said that they would probably be employing around six K-9 units from various agencies to aid in the search.
Wednesday morning, the State Police helicopter flew over the former St. Lawrence Cement quarry off of Newman Road in Greenport looking for Campbell.
Flinn said that a bloodhound had tracked a scent to an entrance to the quarry.
“We’ve completed a small grid search,” said Finn, adding that they would be expanding the search to include the last place she was seen — in the yard of the Zola residence located on the hill across Prospect Avenue from the hospital. The property abuts the Hudson City Cemetery.
Police confirmed that Campbell had been at the hospital voluntarily for a mental health evaluation.
Finn said Campbell had been at the hospital a “very short time” before walking out. She was wearing hospital pants and a hospital gown, described as white with a blue or red print and was also wearing blue or gray slipper socks when she was last seen.
According to the Web site Bizjournals, Campbell is the PR director for Blass Communications, a 40-year-old global marketing company located in Old Chatham..
She is listed on the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce Web site as being a “visionary leader” with 25 years experience “at the highest levels of corporate economic development, government and not-for-profit communications.”
“I really want to find her,” said Finn.
If anyone has seen Campbell or knows of her whereabouts please contact HPD at 518-828-3388.
