Rita B. Rush
Rita B. Rush, 87, of Greenport, died Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at her residence.
Born Aug. 8, 1922 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Bozzo) De Vito.
Rita was an office manager with the US Department of Agriculture in Hudson and retired from the Columbia County Clerk's Office.
Mrs. Rush was a member and Trustee of Holy Family Church, a Eucharistic minister, a member of the Rosery Society, a member of the Pastoral Council, and president of the Elks Lodge 787 Auxiliary.
Rita was the beloved mother of James Rush, Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Greenport, Richard Rush, and his wife, Christine, of Castelton, and Stephanie Di Caprio, and her husband, Alfred, of Raleigh, N.C. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Dennis (Geraldine) Woods of Ghent.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Rush, her brother, James De Vito, and her sister, Norma Woods.
Visiting hours are 4-7 pm Thursday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Prayers will be held at 9:15 am Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of
Christian Burial at 10 am at Holy Family Church in Stottville.
Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery in Stuyvesant Falls.
Donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
