Helen Z. Kobilca, 88, of Greenport, passed away Monday, Sept. 14, 2009 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 6, 1921 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pauline [Brateus) Ziemba.
She was the wife of the late Frank Kobilca, Jr.
Mrs. Kobilca was a department manager for Kadin Bros. in Athens and later a merchandise supervisor for Jamesway #11 in Catskill. She also owned and operated the Daisy Hill Poultry Farm with her son, Joseph, for 26 years.
She was a communicate of the former Sacred Heart Church.
Surviviors include a daughter, Paula Kobilca, and a son, Joseph Kobilca, both of Greenport; a grandson, Joseph Wayne Kobilca, a great-granddaughter, Rachael Kobilca, and a great-grandson, Jacob Kobilca, all of East Greenbush, a devoted daughter-in-law, Beatrice Kobilca, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Wanda Sebulske and Elizabeth Koren.
Calling hours are 4-8 pm Thursday at the Bates & Anderson - Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Prayers will be held at 1:30 pm Friday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2 pm at St. Mary's Church, 429 East Allen St., Hudson.
Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery. Pall bearers will include Kenneth, Charles,
Neil, and Robert Meicht, Ed Ziemba, Kevin McDonald, and Carmine Pierro.
