Three Hudson residents were arrested after a police raid around 9 p.m. Thursday allegedly turned up drugs and paraphernalia at a Columbia Street apartment.
The Hudson Police Department’s Special Operations Unit, detectives and patrol officers, along with New York State Parole officers, raided a first floor apartment at 452 Columbia Street on a search warrant and arrested Cedrick Antonio Maurice Fulton, 38; Charee L. Race, 29, and 27-year-old Victor V. Downes. According to police all three resided at the residence.
Police said they seized crack cocaine, a digital scale, packaging materials and cash.
A seven-year-old child related to Race was also present at the time of the raid. The boy was released to a family member according to authorities.
All three adults have been charged with two counts each of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, a class B felony and criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor. Additionally the three were charged with endangering the welfare of a child, another class A misdemeanor.
According to the Department of Corrections Web site Fulton has a number of previous convictions stretching back more than a decade for related charges.
He was convicted of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, a class B felony, in 1992; attempted sale of a controlled substance, a class C felony, in 1994; and fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in 2004, for which he was currently on parole.
A warrant has been lodged for violating his conditions of parole, said police.
The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and the Greenport Rescue Squad also assisted during the investigation.
Fulton, Downes and Race were all arraigned in Hudson City Court before Judge Richard Koweek. Fulton was remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail, while Downes were remanded to jail on $3,500 cash or $7,000 bail bond and $3,000 cash or $7,000 bail bond, respectively, pending further court action.
HPD Lt. Richard Paolino said that curbing drug trafficking in the city was a priority for the department.
“We want to continue to improve the quality of life in and around the city of Hudson,” he said.
If anyone has information regarding drug activity or any other criminal enterprise, they are encouraged to contact HPD at 518-828-3388, at any time.
