Phone scammers impersonate Police PBA
Dutchess County residents have apparently been receiving phone calls soliciting money for a local police benevolent association, however the calls aren’t coming from the PBA, but from scammers.
According to the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association, the organization does not use phone solicitations or ask for donations over the phone.
The Association, located in Poughkeepsie, was established in 1985, and is a union representing the county’s deputy sheriffs.
If you receive this type of call, stated the PBA, don’t give out personal information or release funds to the caller.
