Public Works Commissioner David Robinson reported on plans to amend the scope of the Ockawamick School building renovation in the event the county does secure ownership of One City Centre in Hudson at the building and facilities committee Monday.

The Ockawamick subcommittee has interviewed nine architectural firms between June 4 and June 8; the list was knocked down to four firms that were interviewed again on July 9.

Robinson said the subcommittee is holding off on a final selection until some determination is made regarding the purchase of One City Centre. If the county’s bid is approved and the county is able to purchase One City Centre, this will significantly change the scope of work for renovations to Ockawamick as well as the scope of work for the architectural firm the county selects.

Supervisor John Musall, D-Hudson 1, asked where the county was in regard to purchasing One City Centre during the discussion. Chairman Roy Brown, R-Germantown, replied that the county is still in negotiation regarding the purchase and existing leases that are connected to the property.

The Ockawamick subcommitee is also holding on an “Opinion of Cost” solicitation for the former school building until the county has a concrete answer regarding the One City Centre property.

The county announced its plans to bid on One City Centre via press conference July 20. If county offices currently located in 401 and 610 State Street were moved to the building, this would make space available for the Department of Social Services to remain in Hudson after its current lease on the building on Railroad Avenue expires, which ends in 2011.

Plans for renovations to the county courthouse were also addressed. Lothrop Associates submitted an updated set of drawings to the county last week. The drawings will be revised by the county and will be sent to the Unified Court System later this week for review.

“That’s continued to move forward on a pretty good schedule,” said Robinson.

He also reported the county Mental Health office have been fully moved to the third floor of the county office building at 325 Columbia Street in Hudson. The building committee agenda reported that District Attorney Beth Cozzolino is coordinating the delivery of newer office furniture prior to the move; the committee is hopeful that the move will be conducted in September.
