At 4:03 p.m. Sunday, the Chatham Rescue Squad, the Chatham Fire Company and other police agencies responded to a collision of a car and a motorcycle at the intersection of routes 295 and 512 in Chatham.
One person was injured and transferred to Albany Medical Center via Chatham Rescue Squad ambulance. During the same time, a Lifenet helicopter was put on standby, though it was later canceled, according to police.
One anonymous caller to the Register-Star reported that the motorcycle was in “tiny pieces,” and that the other vehicle, reportedly a black Jeep, was in an un-driveable condition. The caller also reported a large number of police and emergency vehicles at the scene.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said that the New York State Police are currently investigating the accident, but neither agency was able to confirm the extent of the injury.
