Edwin G. Finck
CATSKILL — Edwin G. Finck, 94, long-time Athens resident, died May 26, 2009 at Kaaterskill Care in Catskill. Edwin was born May 19, 1915 in Seaford, the son of the late William and Clara (Goelz) Finck.
Mr. Finck served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Edwin was an employee at Sterling-Winthrop in Rensselaer for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Athens Zion Lutheran Church; American Legion; Athens VFW Post 2845; and Athens Rivertown Senior Citizens. Edwin was predeceased by a son, Stanley Finck; and three sisters, Winifred Finck, Eleanor Naer and Anna Nolan.
Mr. Finck is survived by his wife, Mrs. Guilette M. (Randall) Finck of Catskill; a son, Gerald Finck of Long Island; a daughter, Diane Cunningham of South Carolina; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Athens Zion Lutheran Church, 102 North Washington St., Athens. Funeral services will follow 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Rev. Bruce K. Benander, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Coxsackie.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.
