GREENPORT - A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Routes 9H and 66 in the town of Greenport sent three to the hospital Saturday night.
The New York State Police in Livingston investigated the accident that occured around 8 p.m.
A blown transformer that led to a power outage in the are, and a failure to yield by both cars, were to blame for the collision.
According to police, Diane B. Cheney of Elmira was heading south on Route 9H when she noticed the traffic light was out, while Robert Menko, of South Deerfield, Mass. was heading north-east on Route 66 and also noticed the traffic light was out.
Both failed to yield.
The collision sent Menko's car hurdling into a brand new parked car on the Village Dodge car dealership lot.
The Greenport Rescue Squad and West Ghent Fire Company responded to the scene.
A helicopter was placed on standby, but LifeNet declined due to the weather. Another helicopter was put on stand-by and later canceled.
Cheney was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by Greenport Rescue.
Menko and a passenger in his vehicle were transported by the Philmont Rescue Squad and Greenport Rescue to Albany Medical Center. All three patients were conscious at the time they were transported.
Neither driver was ticketed.
