Gertrude “Gerry” Pulver Malasky, 88, of Charleston, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at home at Edgewood Summit. A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2008, at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Charleston, with the Rev. William Carl Thomas officiating. Burial will take place at the Salisbury cemetery, Salisbury, Connecticut on May 2, 2009 at 1PM. Gerry was a member of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, Charleston and had been a member for many years of Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson, New York.
Gerry was born in Millerton, N.Y., and was the only daughter of the late Frank and Maude Pulver.
She attended the Emma Willard School in Troy, New York and Babson College in Boston, Mass. Gerry lived for many years in Claverack, New York. She was an avid golfer and member of The Columbia County Country Club where she was Woman’s Champion in 1957, 1960, 1964 and 1965. Gerry was also an active member of the New York State Women’s Golf Association. During her years in Claverack, Gerry volunteered with her friends Mrs. Janet Noerling and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Spencer at the then, newly formed Women’s Auxiliary at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Gerry is survived by her daughter, Sherry Peregrin of New York City, N.Y.; son, David and his wife Laura Pray of Charleston; grandchildren, Christopher and Michele Peregrin of New York City, N.Y., and Josh and Judy Pray of Independence, Ky.; and great-grandchild, Zoe Pray, also of Independence, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
