Geraldine Gross Garafalo

Geraldine Gross Garafalo, 60, of Kinderhook, passed away February 28th at her home with her family. She was born January 21, 1949, daughter of the late Gerard P. Gross and Mary Jane (Kunz) Gross.

Geraldine was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, cross-stitching and tending to her flowers. She loved the beach where she spent every summer with her family and friends. Geraldine graduated with her bachelors from SUNY Oneonta and masters degree in education from the College of Saint Rose. She worked as a fifth and sixth grade teacher at Ichabod Crane Middle School for 35 years where she served as a cheerleading coach, student council and yearbook advisor, and a mentor to all her students.

Geraldine is survived by her husband John J. Garafalo Jr. of 39 years; daughter, Allison A. Garafalo; sister-in-law Barbara Dwyer and brother-in-law Francis X. Dwyer; nephews Daniel (Kate) Dwyer, John (Deidre) Dwyer, and Sean (Amy) Dwyer; 7 great nieces and nephews; cousins Robert, Kingsley, Deborah, Geoffery, Diana Gross and their spouses and children. She is pre-deceased by her uncles Cyril Gross, Gene Gross, and Gordon Kunz, aunt Helen Gross and her mother and father-in-law John and Barbara Gross.
