Robert E. Van Valkenburgh

Robert E. Van Valkenburgh, age 81, of Catskill, died January 30, 2009 at Kingston Hospital, after a long illness. He was born June 24, 1927 in Saugerties, New York, the son of the late Egbert and Emma Van Valkenburgh.
Bob was a graduate of Catskill High School and SUNY Cobleskill. In his life, Bob worked at Orchard Dairies, the family farm in Catskill, as an operating engineer; and commercial truck driver.
His lifelong hobbies included flying his own airplanes and motorcycling, and was a member of the Gold Wing Club.
Mr. Van Valkenburgh is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Madalyn; sons Robert W. and wife Joanne; Terry and wife Marlena; four grandchildren Brandi Collesides, Shauna (Gavin) Stiles, Amber Van Valkenburgh, and Kye Van Valkenburgh, and one great-grandchild.
Private cremation was performed at Park View Cemetery in Schenectady. Memorial services and burial in the Town of Catskill Cemetery will be at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, Catskill.
