OLD CHATHAM — A fire that destroyed a home on Haddock Hill Road in Old Chatham Wednesday afternoon was found to be electrical in nature, according to Tri-Village Fire Chief Brandon Goold.
No one was hurt in the blaze.
Goold said the call came in around 1:51 p.m. from a New York State Thruway Authority truck driver, who saw the fire from the Thruway.
The East Chatham, Red Rock and New Lebanon Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
Goold said the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, so there was nothing they could do to save it. Everything but the rear of the residence was destroyed he said.
Chatham-based attorney James Kleinbaum has owned the rental property for two years. The family renting the house were not home at the time.
“I’m just glad no one was hurt,” said Kleinbaum.
According to Kleinbaum the family of four lost everything in the fire. He said they are currently staying with family in the area.
“They’re temporarily staying there while they try to figure out what to do,” said Kleinbaum.
