NORTH CHATHAM — A 79-year-old Capitol District man died Saturday after being bucked from a horse in North Chatham.
Gerald Malone of Niskayuna was riding horses with his adult daughter on Dorland Road Saturday just after 2 p.m. when his horse began bucking for unknown reasons and threw him off.
“The accident happened on the road itself,” said Lt. James Andrews of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Malone’s daughter lives in North Chatham.
The Chatham Rescue Squad responded to the scene. Malone was transported to Albany Medical Center by Albany Med-Flight.
Malone died four hours later from severe head trauma received in the fall.
Also on scene were members of the Tri-Village Fire Company.
Deputy Louis Godfroy and Investigator Mark Dunspaugh of the Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation.
