Lady Clippers secure tie for first in Patroon

GERMANTOWN — The Germantown Lady Clippers topped Emma Willard 5-1 to secure a three-way tie atop Patroon Conference varsity field hockey play Thursday.
Suzy Wright led Germantown with three goals on the day and one assist. Caitlin Briggs and Rachel Vale netted the other two goals of the game for the Lady Clippers and teammates Mary Kate Pulver and Linda Gerlach each had one assist.
The Lady Clippers had 15 shots on goal and seven penalty corners to go along with six saves by goalie Kaitlin Hallmark.
With the win Germantown completes the season with an 8-2 record to place the team next to Ichabod Crane and Taconic Hills. There is no tiebreaker to determine a single Patroon Conference champion. The seeding meeting for field hockey sectionals is on Sunday.

PATROON VOLLEYBALL
Catskill 3, Coxsackie-Athens 0
CATSKILL — The Catskill Lady Cats blanked Coxsackie-Athens 3-0 Thursday in a Patroon Conference varsity girls volleyball match at Catskill.
Set scores were 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22.
Catskill’s Judy Lam had 16 service points, one dig and multiple assists, Ryan Wilhelm had 14 service points and six kills, Sierra Rocco had nine service points, Beth Sira had nine service points and Jessica Kelley had six service points.
“We played really well tonight. The team covered the floor well in the middle and passed the ball well. It was a great game to watch,” said Catskill coach Stacy Collier.
Catskill improves to 9-6 with the win and travels to Ichabod Crane today at 4 p.m. Coxsackie-Athens hosts Cairo-Durham Saturday at 1 p.m.

Taconic Hills 3, Chatham 1
CHATHAM — Taconic Hills traveled to Chatham Thursday for a Patroon girls varsity volleyball match and walked away with a 3-1 victory with set scores of 24-26, 25-8, 25-12 and 25-21.
Lady Titans’ Kelsey Campbell led the way with 12 service points, five kills, 10 assists, two digs and one ace. Chelsea Halsted had 10 service points, 12 kills, four aces and seven blocks, Lexi Kutski had five service points, five assists, three digs and two aces, Jackie DaVala had five service points, three digs and one ace, Christy Shroder had 15 service points, three kills and two aces and Laura Davenport had five service points, five kills, two assists and one ace.
“It was a very fun match against a very good, well-coached team,” said Taconic Hills coach Alan Eggleston.
According to an e-mail from Chatham coach Linda Colwell, Lady Panthers’ Sam Torrey had seven service points, one ace and three kills, Erika Sheerin had seven service points, seven kills and one assist and Francesca Bona had four service points, two aces, 10 kills and two assists.
Taconic Hills defeated Maple Hill Tuesday by a final score of 3-0. Set scores were 25-16, 25-17 and 25-10.
With the two wins Taconic Hills improves to 13-3 on the season and travels to Ravena Saturday for a non-league tournament.
Chatham hosts Rensselaer Monday at 4 p.m.

VALATIE — Hudson narrowly defeated the Ichabod Crane Lady Riders 3-2 Thursday in Patroon girls varsity volleyball at Ichabod Crane.
Set scores were 25-17, 23-25, 17-25, 25-14 and 25-21.
Ichabod Crane’s Karlee Amir Allehretta had 19 service points, one ace and one assist, Sarah Wheeler had seven service points, two assists, 13 kills and five digs, Alyssa Stall had six service points and 14 assists, Sue Kirwan had 10 service points, two aces, one assist, one kill and one dig and Monica Hall had one service point, 13 kills and one dig.
“Both teams played very well and both played very steadily throughout the game. Everyone hustled to the ball on every play but we just came up short,” said ICC coach Bob Wheeler.
ICC (11-4) hosts Catskill today as Hudson hosts Maple Hill Monday. Both games start at 4 p.m.

GREENVILLE — Greenville downed Cairo-Durham 3-1 in Patroon girls varsity volleyball Thursday at Greenville. Game scores were 17-25, 25-18, 25-9 and 25-14.
Leading the Lady Spartans were Tori Weidman with 15 points on 21-for-23 serving, Sophia Mastrantuono with five kills and seven points on 11-for-13 serving, Josh St. Dennis with eight points on 11-for-13 serving, Courtney McDonald with nine digs and Tyler Winnie with five kills.
“The girls came together after a rough start tonight. Cairo-Durham did a real nice job digging up our hits and blocking and they’ve improved since the beginning of the season,” said Greenville coach Justin Bruce.
Greenville (15-2, 13-2) travels to Cohoes today for non-league action at 5 p.m. while Cairo-Durham travels to Coxsackie-Athens Saturday at 3 p.m.
