Chatham girls soccer improves to 7-0; Lady Riders hold off Spartans 3-2

Chatham 6, Cairo-Durham 2

CHATHAM — The Chatham Lady Panthers downed Cairo-Durham 6-2 in Patroon Conference girls varsity soccer action at Chatham Monday, according to an e-mail from Chatham scorekeeper Julie Brown. With the win the Lady Panthers improve to a league-best 7-0-1 record.

Brittany Keeler dominated for the victors, scoring a hat trick plus one and Hayley Madsen scored Chatham’s other two goals. Leah Wightman had two assists while Cailey Nieto, Regina Behn, Alyssa Keeler, Megan Wenk and Brittany Lassow each added one assist in the win.

For the Lady Mustangs, Monica Maassmann accounted for both of her team’s scores, off assists from Rebecca Giroux and Brittany Riesberg, respectively.

Wenk and Lassow combined for 15 saves on 22 C-D shots, while Alison Schlobohm had 14 saves on 22 shots. Chatham had four corner kicks and Cairo had one.

The Lady Mustangs host Hudson Wednesday at 4 p.m. while the Panthers play at Taconic Hills Wednesday at 7 p.m.


Ichabod Crane 2, Greenville 1

GREENVILLE — Ichabod Crane traveled to Greenville Monday and narrowly edged out the Lady Spartans 2-1 in Patroon girls varsity soccer action.

Lady Riders’ Kylie Watt scored both goals with one coming off of an assist from Morgan VanAlstyne.

Taylor Anne Young scored the only goal of the game for Greenville, assisted by Toressa Young.

“All three goals in the game came in the first half and after that it really became a defensive battle,” said Greenville coach Eileen Kiefer. “We had our opportunities and just didn’t score. It was a very exciting game.”

Greenville had 19 shots on goal and Spartans’ Rhiannon Jardim grabbed nine saves in the net as Ichabod Crane had 20 shots on goal and Riders’ Courtney Barry had 10 saves.

“It was a very balanced, well-played game on both sides. We always have close matches with Ichabod,” added Kiefer.

Greenville (4-2 Patroon) hosts Coxsackie-Athens Friday as Ichabod Crane hosts Coxsackie-Athens Wednesday. Both games start at 4 p.m.

Coxsackie-Athens 5, Catskill 2

COXSACKIE — The Coxsackie-Athens Lady Indians defeated Catskill 5-2 Monday in a Patroon girls varsity soccer match at C-A.

Kelsey Lenney led C-A with two goals and three assists on the night. Allie Brockett, Emily Proper and Danielle Chiudina each had a goal while Liz Salvino and Gillian Stippa both had an assist. Indians’ Jenna Morse grabbed three saves on five shots in the goal.

Catskill’s Kate Miller and Rachel Bergami each had a goal and Ellen Story added an assist in the loss.

“It’s nice to get a win and the girls looked very good. We’re ready to take on Ichabod Crane,” said C-A coach Mark Lenney.

The Lady Indians (3-4 Patroon) travel to ICC Wednesday at 4 p.m. Catskill hosts Cairo-Durham Friday at 4 p.m.

Maple Hill 6, Hudson 0

CASTLETON — Maple Hill’s girls varsity soccer team shut out Hudson 6-0 in Patroon action at Maple Hill Monday, according to an e-mail from Lady Wildcats coach Sheila Golden.

Ashley Cross scored twice, Alyssa Ancin, Chelsea Turley and Michaela Palmer each scored once and Sierra Legge added two assists in the win.

Lady Bluehawks’ Catherine Sundheim had three saves and combined with Jenna Turner to face 16 Maple Hill shots. Wildcats’ Anna Racz (1), Alyssa Filkins (1) and Aubrey Racz (0) faced four Hudson shots.

Both teams had five corner kicks.

Maple Hill (5-2-1) hosts Catskill while Hudson (0-8) travels to Cairo-Durham for more league action at 4 p.m. Wednesday.


DELAWARE BOYS SOCCER

Hunter-Tannersville 4, Gilboa-Conesville 1

GILBOA — Hunter-Tannersville topped Gilboa-Conesville 4-1 Monday in a Delaware League boys varsity soccer match Monday at Gilboa.

Tucker Foti led the Wildcats with two goals on the night while Kyle Friedman and Kieran Powers had one goal apiece. Ryan Megnin, Vinny Rizzo and Danny Legg had one assist apiece in the win.

Hunter-Tannersville got off 26 shots on goal and had nine corner kicks as Dylan Outtrim grabbed three saves in the net for HTC.

Hunter (4-2-1 overall) hosts Windham-Ashland-Jewett today at 4:15 p.m.

NON-LEAGUE SOCCER

New Lebanon 3, Milford 0

ONEONTA — New Lebanon won their division in the Soccer Hall of Fame High School Cup with a 3-0 non-league victory over Milford in Oneonta, according to an e-mail from Tigers coach Rob Allard.

RJ Walsh had a goal and an assist, Joe Taveres had a goal, Mike Gavrity had a goal and Pat Bartlett added an assist in the win for New Lebanon. Johnson nabbed 10 saves in the goal for the Tigers.


Hunter-Tannersville 3, Gilboa-Conesville 2

HUNTER — Jazzy Bogus scored two goals to lead the Hunter-Tannersville Lady Wildcats to a 3-2 non-league win in girls varsity soccer at HTC Monday.

“It was a little intense for awhile, I lost a couple of starters (last game),” Lady Wildcats coach Julia France said. “We didn’t play a great game, I was not happy with our game at all — a lot of kick ball, but I think it came from having people out of position.”

Hunter’s Krystal Plattner had a goal, Alex Natale had two assists and Nicole Foti added one assist.

Gilboa’s Courtney Palmisano scored both her team’s goals, both assisted by Laura Potter off corner kicks.

GC’s Jessica Johnson had seven saves on 21 shots while HTC goalie Grace Berger had five saves on eight shots.

HTC (6-2, 3-1) plays at Windham-Ashland-Jewett for a league game today at 4:15 p.m.

Hunter-Tannersville 5, Rhinebeck 2

TANNERSVILLE — Hunter-Tannersville came back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to knock off Rhinebeck 5-2 and win the Hunter-Tannersville Booster Club Tournament Saturday.

Lady Wildcats’ Shelby France had a goal and an assist, Nicole Foti had a goal and an assist, Krystal Plattner had a goal and an assist and teammates Alex Natale and Kirsten Davis both had a goal.

“We had a really strong second half and the girls were pretty impressive in the final game,” said HTC coach Julia France. “It was a really good tournament. All of the games were very competitive and very intense.”

Grace Berger started the game in the goal for HTC and had three saves in the first half. Annie Butler had six saves in during the second half of play.

HTC shutout Mt. Everett in the first round to earn a spot in the final game. The Lady Wildcats improve to 5-2 (3-1 Delaware League) on the season and take on Windham-Ashland-Jewett on the road today at 4:15 p.m.

Schenectady 4, Taconic Hills 1

CRARYVILLE — Taconic Hills fell to Schenectady 4-1 Monday in non-league girls soccer action at Taconic Hills. Lady Titans’ Arianna Macchia scored the lone goal of the game in the loss as Taconic Hills had 12 shots on goal. TH hosts Chatham Wednesday at 7 p.m.
