Hudson volleyball hammers C-A
Hudson 3, Coxsackie-Athens 1 HUDSON — Hudson’s girls varsity volleyball squad gained a 3-1 win over Coxsackie-Athens during Patroon Conference action in Hudson Monday. The Lady Bluehawks took the first two games 25-15 and 27-25 before C-A snatched the third game 25-15, but the Lady Indians couldn’t grab the momentum as Hudson closed it out with a 25-21 win in game four. Lady Bluehawks’ Shavonda Cousin had 11 service points with an ace and 11 kills, Emily Gaylord had 10 service points including two aces and Mackenzie Hunter had 10 service points. “Both teams played very well,” Hudson coach Nancy Graziano said. “Shavonda Cousin for me at the net was phenomenal, she was probably the best all-around player today — she was all over the court. “I think both teams hustled a lot but we definitely stepped up a notch from last week’s game against Greenville, it was a team effort,” the coach added. For the Lady Indians, Kayla Restko and Regina Peterson both had nine service points, Hudson (1-1) plays at Cairo-Durham while C-A travels to Ichabod Crane for today with a 4 p.m. JV starts. Chatham 3, Maple Hill 1 CHATHAM — Chatham beat Maple Hill 3-1 in Patroon girls varsity volleyball by scores of 22-25, 25-14, 25-14 and 25-22 Monday at Chatham. Lady Panthers’ Francesca Bona had 14 service points, 11 kills and an assist, Jessica Diskin had eight service points, six kills, three blocks and eight assists and Alyssa Mantel had seven service points, two kills and seven assists. “We started off slow,” Chatham coach Linda Colwell said. “Maple Hill’s got a good front at the net, they’ve got three tall girls. They played very well the first game and then after that we came back with our serves, both teams are very scrappy.” Chatham (2-0) hosts Catskill at 5:30 p.m. today. Mike LaBuff
